Matthew Patrick Smyth's expertise in interior design focuses on fine detailing and suitibility within a range of styles utilizing high quality craftspeople to provide a finished product that reflects his client's needs and interests. Matthew’s projects have included homes in Greenwich and Westport, CT, Bedford and Scarborough, NY, Southwest Harbor, ME, Palm Beach, FL, Nantucket and various apartments in Manhattan. Flats in London and Paris are also in the works. Matthew has also branched out into product design collaborating with Patterson, Flynn & Martin for his carpet collections in 2006 and 2010, respectively. His line of fabrics was introduced by F. Schumacher & Co. and a line of his wallcovering designs soon followed. Savoir Beds of London recently commissioned Matthew to design a bed for their collection. Matthew Smyth studied interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After working with David Easton for six years, Smyth started his own firm in 1987. Matthew has participated in five Kip’s Bay Showhouses. His book, Living Traditions: Interiors by Matthew Patrick Smyth, was released in April 2011 by Monacelli Press. Matthew Smyth recently completed a ‘Designer Visions’ apartment at 250 West St. in TriBeCa, NYC for Elle Décor magazine. The apartment is prominently featured in the Dec. 2012 issue. Awards include: 2012 Alpha Workshops Award, 2011 Stars of Design Award for Interior Design, Elle Décor’s Top 25 A List. Matthew Smyth has been consistently listed as one of the top designers in House Beautiful, Traditional Home, New York Magazine, Elements of Living, New York Spaces, and Gotham magazines.
